On the announcement of The King’s Birthday Honours in June 2024 and New Year Honours in January 2025, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and celebrate the fantastic achievements of the alumni, staff, students and friends who have been honoured.
Amongst those honoured in June were Professor of Geography and Deputy Executive Dean at Durham University, Professor Harriet Bulkeley OBE for her contribution to Geography and to Environmental Governance and alumna and honorary graduate Alison Gowman CBE for her work in Public and Voluntary Services and Sustainability. In January, recipients included alumna and Olympian Tessa Howard MBE, for her contribution to the world of sport and alumna Rebecca Thomson OBE, the journalist that first broke the Post Office story.
